Danilo Faso (Italy, 2010) won the triple at this year’s European Youth Championships in Ostrava, taking gold in U15 singles, U15 doubles with Francesco Trevisan, and U15 teams with Team Italy. He completed the tournament without losing a single game, while also winning the doubles and defending the U15 team title with Italy. An excellent performance in his final year as a cadet!

However, Danilo wasn’t the only compass-supported player to come away from the tournament successfully. Our other players were busy chasing medals, too.

“I am proud of Danilo’s performance, which is a testament to his continuous dedication and resilience, and, most importantly, his qualities. He is already capable of competing with older players, and I am sure that this event will give him the confidence to continue developing. He has a bright future in table tennis, and we are happy to support him on his journey,” commented Daniel Zwickl, compass’s managing director.

Görkem confirmed his qualities

Görkem Öçal (Turkey, 2011) became vice-champion in both the U15 singles and team events, and collected another valuable bronze medal in the U15 doubles event alongside compatriot Kenan Kahraman.

“After winning the European U13 title in 2024, Görkem proved his talent by winning three medals, demonstrating that he is a promising player despite being a year younger than the U15 generation. This result, along with confirmation of his performances, gives me the confidence to support him on his journey through other youth categories and help him to advance further in his development,” said Bogdan Pugna, compass expert coach.

Ladimir performed excellent

Ladimir Mayorov (Spain, 2013) put in a particularly impressive performance, delivering several outstanding displays. He won second place alongside his doubles partner, Louis Fegerl (Austria), in the U15 doubles. Additionally, he reached the quarter-finals in the singles event, despite being three years younger than the other competitors.

“Ladimir was the leader of his team, Spain, and he led them into the quarter-finals, which is an impressive achievement given his young age. After winning medals at the U13 European Championships, he demonstrated his potential in the U15 singles events, winning a silver medal in the doubles as well as making his mark in this category with his individual performance,” continued Bogdan Pugna.

“On behalf of the compass Foundation, I would like to express our utmost congratulations to all the medallists, their families, coaches, and everyone who contributed to their success. I would also like to mention the special achievement of Danilo with his three gold medals, Görkem’s consistency, and Ladimir’s significant performance as one of the youngest participants in the event,” Daniel Zwickl concluded.
