Small compass camps with big impact

Regular small camps are a service that compass regularly gives their supported talents. This is a way to monitor the child’s status and help the home environment to further enhance the talent’s development.

“We will continue our individual and small group training camps, which provide our talents with additional skills and intensive international training activities,” says compass Managing Director Daniel Zwickl.

Several such mini-camps were organised at the beginning of 2025. The Italian Danilo Faso first went to Budapest, Hungary, for two weeks at the end of January and beginning of February. He then made a shorter visit to Saarbrücken in Germany (11-13.02.), where he also visited the headquarters of his supplier brand Tibhar.

In Budapest, Danilo, born in 2010, was given the best sparring partners at the highest level: Daniel Kosiba, Bence Majoros, Adam Szudi and Gabor Gerold. Danilo also worked intensively with ‘Spinsight’ and he visited the Hungarian youth national team.

Compass prevention specialist Krisztina Szvitan also worked a lot on Danilo’s mobility and taught him how to prevent injuries.

“Very good and valuable weeks,” said Danilo’s father Marco afterwards. “It was a personalised training for Danilo’s technical, physical and mental development. There were many hours of training every day.”

Saarbrücken

Danilo then moved to Saarbrücken, Germany, where he trained under the supervision and guidance of Darko Jorgic’s coach Joze Urh. Again, the sparring partners were excellent, including Samuel Arpas, Simon Berglund and Xavier Dixon.

The aim in Saarbrücken was to integrate into an international group with a variety of players at different levels.

Ochsenhausen

Steven Moreno, Puerto Rico, and Görkem Öcal, Turkey, visited Ochsenhausen from 5 to 10 February.

“We have been working with Steven and Görkem regularly for a year and a half now,” said Bogdan Pugna, who, in addition to his work as head coach of Ochsenhausen’s men’s Bundesliga team, also takes care of some of the compass boys.

“We did a regular check-up – technically, physically and mentally – to get a picture of how Steven and Görkem are at the moment in relation to later encountering the senior level.

Steven’s parents visited Ochsenhausen for the first time, which was great for us to get a better understanding of his family and for them to get to know the environment he has when he visits us.

It was a camp with positive results and a good check for us to see where they are in their development process.”

Stockholm

compass expert coach Oliver Alke travelled to Sweden and its capital Stockholm to find out more about the home environment of young talent Arthur Stribeck, born in 2015.

“I had five individual sessions with Arthur Stribeck at his home club Täby. Overall, Arthur is at a good level. He quickly understood the technical adjustments I wanted him to make. He likes to play from the backhand side, good variations and good technique for most of the shots.”

A summary and recommendations from Olli’s side regarding daily training and technical/mental tasks will go to Arthur’s club coaches. This will be followed up during Oliver’s next trip to Sweden, which will take place in May or June this year.
